"No one will be left without care and attention!" - Under such motto started Week of Health throughout Uzbekistan.

A Week of depth medical examination of the population, including war and labor veterans, the elderly, will be held from February 16 to 21, at the initiative of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan in connection with the Year of attention and care for the older generation.

In the course of this major social event, besides a thorough medical examination will be organized outreach activities to raise people's medical culture, promoting healthy lifestyles, strengthening the youth knowledge and skills to create a healthy family, the prevention of various diseases.

The social event will be attended by about 300 leading scientists and highly qualified doctors, republican specialized medical centers, research institutes and medical schools. They will visit all regions of the country and conduct a thorough medical examination of the population.

The coverage of the Health Week has expanded this year. Events of the week will be attended by surgeons, obstetricians and gynecologists, internists, pediatricians, neurologists, cardiologists, endocrinologists, ophthalmologists, otolaryngology, urology, orthopedics, trauma, dental, dermatology and specialists in other areas.

Recall that last year the Ministry of Health in the framework of the project "Healthy mother - healthy child" conducted a medical examination of over 13.6 million women and children, and improved health of 2.8 million women and 2.5 million children. In order to prevent children infectious diseases, national vaccination calendar was introduced with rotavirus vaccine, through which had been vaccinated nearly 300 thousand children.

It should be noted, that currently in Uzbekistan live more than 2 million 873 thousand of people over 60 years, 225 thousand people over the age of 80 years, 44 thousand - 90 years, and 8700 - are people who passed 100-year milestone. In the period of independence, the average age of the population increased from 67 years in 1990 to 73.5 years, and women - to 75.8 years.

These figures indicate the steady increase of the level and quality of life. Construction of modern medical institutions in our country, strengthening the material-technical, scientific and practical base contributes to further improve of public health. In particular, during 2014, work was carried out at about 410 billion soums for construction, reconstruction and equipping of 137 modern medical facilities. Considerable attention is paid to the prevention of diseases, further increasing the medical culture of the population. These are the main goals of the being held Week of Health under the slogan "No one will be left without care and attention!".
