News : Japan to invest to the Uzbek economy $3.8 billion .

The delegation of Uzbekistan headed by the first Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan Rustam Azimov, on January 26-28, 2015 took part in the 12th session of the Uzbek-Japanese Committee on economic cooperation in Tokyo.

Representatives of the ministries of finance, foreign affairs, economy, trade and industry of Japan, in the course of the meeting made a speech, and gave a high assessment on economic reforms of Uzbekistan, investment climate and prospects for economic development. It was emphasized that the Government of Japan will actively and consistently support the efforts of Japanese companies and financial institutions on the expansion and development of trade-economic, investment and financial cooperation with Uzbekistan. 

During a meeting of the Committee, were also held presentations of leading sectors of economy of Uzbekistan, which were attended by over 200 representatives of Japanese companies, banks and government agencies. 

According to the results of the meeting, a package of significant investment, loan agreements, technical assistance projects were signed. Hereby a total cost of being attracted Japanese investments and loans is totaled $3.8 billion, and will be directed in the sphere of power industry, petroleum, chemical, textile, electrical engineering, telecommunications, tourism, transport infrastructure and other industries.

The delegation was received by the Prime Minister of Japan, Shinzo Abe, who in the course of the meeting received a personal message of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan I. A. Karimov. The meeting also discussed the state and prospects of cooperation of Uzbekistan with Japan in economic, investment and financial fields.

Within the framework of the visit of the Uzbek delegation, were also held talks with Deputy Prime Minister, Finance Minister Taro Aso, Minister of economy, trade and industry Yoichi Miyazavoy, Chairman of the Bank of Japan Haruhiko Kuroda, management Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), state agencies, leading Japanese companies and banks.
